Nearing The End

4:28pm. Judge Michael Dwyer decides to halt testimony for the day. We had anticipated the dramatic testimony of Lennon's employee Leslee Liesch, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

The prosecution expects to call just two more witnesses Friday. The defense will follow with about one additional hour of testimony.

Tomorrow will be a short day of testimony, beginning at 9:45am. Closing arguments will not take place until Monday, meaning the jury will not begin deliberations until then.

Healy and Richardson are a sad excuse for human beings. Richardson received justice for his act, DEATH! Healy also deserves the same justice but in our fine state of NY that is not constitutional. Life in prison for Healy to rot for the rest of his sicken life is the best we the people and the Corr family will get. Another sick avenue that is being traveled is the defense of Healy by none other than the one and only scum legal representor, Wittman. Wittman's type of defense is all based upon turning mole hills into mountains. Does she honestly think she is goimg to pull a fast-one over on this jury with the overwhelming amount of proof. She wants the jury to redefine the law with a not guilty verdict. She must have heard of something called "immediate flight therefrom" and "violent feonly". OH gee it appears Healy participated in a violent robbery and was running from it like the scum bag that he is. He participated in the taking of another persons life. Healy sure participated in taking the property from Lennons and he should take responsibility for participating in the killing of Joe Corr. It sickens me how Healy can walk into the court room and smile in the cameras and gaze into his defense attorney's eyes like she is some goddess. YUK! GO TEAM PROSECUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I REALLY DONT THINK HE SHOULD BE GUILTY OF MURDER HE IS NOT THE ONE WHO DID THE SHOOTING. GUILTY OF THE OTHER CHARGES YES BUT NOT MURDER.IF YOU WERE HIM WOULD YOU LIKE TO FRY FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDNT DO? JUSTICE WAS DONE ALREADY THE MURDERER WAS MURDERED.

8:47 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sorry but that isn't the point. Healy was with Richardson, they both committed the robbery, they rode together, they crashed together, they ran together.

Richardson is dead and now Healy is up for second degree murder.

If he doesn't want to fry (as you put it) for Richardson, take the stand and lets hear his side of the story. I'm sure it would be interesting how he didn't do anything.

Confess your sins John T Healy or pay the piper for "your friend" Walter Richardson.

I doubt he'll take the stand, would you if you got caught?

Andy,
What exactly are the charges in this case? I know second degree murder, but are there other charges as well? I'm sure many people would appreciate it if you could clarify/specify. Thanks!

NHPD and KPD did what many LEA were unable to do, bring down this group of criminals - one of their own gave his life and probably saved many others by this act - when and if this happens again his brothers will be there - and the same dirt bags will have something to say about the police. Why don't you grow a set and tell us when you were arrested or why the police wouldn't hire you? You won't do that because like most criminals your a coward.

not for nothing, but were dealing with a very hard and emotional case right now, and for those who seem to want to argue....grow the hell up! you should be praying for the NHPD and the Corr family, NOT going on and on about how the court is doing things wrong. there is a dead police officer who put his life on the line, and from what i knew of him he was an amazing cop. he was the bravest person i know and all you people can do is sit at your computers and make stupid comments like "liar liar pants on fire" and making connections to drugs. Come on people, we're not 3 years old, this really did happen and its sad so show at least the slightest bit of maturity. keep up the good work andy

just makes ya wonder how many other shootings healy was involved in that he was never caught for or charged with, and if hes charged with murder or not the mans 46 years old 25 to life doubt he will even live that long.the worst arguement ive seen here yet is that he deserves the death penalty well maybe he does but ya know what ny doesnt use it so why bring it up.read the loacal papers people how many people are shot in utica over drugs a years and u never seen teh death penalty issued.joe corr being a cop will not matter look back at the case over the summer where the man was an escapee from jail shot 3 ny state troopers and the 1 died. what did he get for time????? hmmmm life wasnt it.

Healy is facing one count of 2nd degree murder and 18 counts of robbery (the indictment specifies three robbery charges against each of the six owners/employees inside Lennon's on February 27...hence 18).

I am a card carrying member of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) and am familiar with the Copwatch links.

Your anger cannot turn into a lynch mob. The preservation of the integrity to our judicial system is just as important as the dispensing of justice.

In order to convict, all elements of the crime must be present, from what I have read, I believe that Attorney Wittman is acting as effective counsel in trying to bring out all elements of the crime. To do less, jeopardizes her status as a criminal defense attorney.

Our system of justice and the presumption of innocence is afforded all those who are charged with a crime. It does not change according to the status of a person. While murder of an officer may carry heavier weight with regard to sentencing, the system that is in place to find a person guilty or not guilty remains the same. The same proceedings apply in the courtroom whether it be a sanitation worker or a police officer. To invoke a presumption that one person's life is more important than another, (police v sanitation worker), and because of that presumption, the system of justice should be altered, reflects a disparity that should not exist.

We have seen on many occasions, specifically in Oneida County how arbitrary justice has been served, discarding the rule of law, because of public interest.

We witnessed the Desiree Case Murder trial whereby Mr. Smith was found guilty of a crime, because exculpatory evidence was not turned over as required by law.

Mr. Smith suffered greatly because of his wrongful conviction. Evidence was a problem then, and may just jeopardize this case on appeal, for the same disregard for preserving critical evidence is evident.

This case must be looked at from a legal standpoint, not an emotional one.

Hopefully justice will be served, whatever that may be, but integrity in the system remains in the forefront.

I have to give credit to Attorney Rebecca Whitman. I think she shows great bravery in defending someone who perhaps is involved (it's up to the jury to decide if he is guilty) in a robbery which ended up in the murder of a police officer. Anyone who has ever been around the courts at all knows that Mrs. Whitman is always defending those who have no power and no voice. She not only does this inside the courtrooms but outside as well-bringing food to the poor and defending those who have little money. Many of the big shot lawyers have forgotten how important it is for EVERYONE ACCUSED of a crime to have justice. She not only faces the prosecution but prejudice which EXISTS in the local police departments against those who are of color. This is absolutely true in places like New Hartford. When this trial is over Mrs. Whitman will still face the red faced prejudice of the haters and no doubt suffer for it.

I have been around courts and I know who she defends. Drug dealers who pay in cash or trade. She has nothing but contempt for police officers and should be in a cell next to her buddy Moran.
